Formal approaches to philosophy of religion and analytic theology

Resumo

John Templeton Foundation Grant ID 61108 The Big Questions underlying this project are: How can the Formal Logic methods help us to understand and deep the metaphysical and theological truths? How and in which extent the conceptual framework provided by Neo Scholasticism can help us to address a number of interdependent problems in Philosophy of Religion, Analytic Theology, Formal Metaphysics, and Formal Epistemology? In order to address these Big Questions, the purpose is to provide discussions and formal systems to answer questions concerning the existence of God, the rationality of the Trinity, the problem of evil, being and existence, etc. The project aims to establish an interdisciplinary network of scholars interested in Philosophy of Religion, Analytic Theology and Formal Logic and begin training a young generation of Latin American researchers. Concerning the dissemination of knowledge, the project will implement a regular weekly seminar, a number of international workshops, and the publication a number of academic papers, one academic book in English and one volume in Portuguese. The academic publications aim at promoting closer links between the local research groups and the leading international specialists. The purpose of the book in Portuguese is to contribute to the growth of the interdisciplinary knowledge on Philosophy of Religion and Analytic Theology..
