Requirements for obtaining the title
Credits
Meet the total credits as specified in the duration of the course and obtain a minimum Grade Point Average GPA of 2.5 from the 2nd attended term. The GPA is calculated on a 4.0 scale.
Language Proficiency
Demonstrate proficiency in the English and Portuguese.
Qualifying Exam
Be approved in the qualifying exam, which will consist of a presentation of the candidate's project and will be held after the student has completed the credits in courses. It must take place at the end of the third attended semester in the case of the Master's program and the fifth semester for the Doctorate degree program.
Defense of the dissertation/Thesis
Be approved in the defense of their dissertation or thesis.
Master’s Degree Program in Demography
Duration
The minimum and maximum durations for the Master's Course are 18 and 37 months, respectively.
In order to obtain the title of Master in Demography students must fulfill 28 credits in courses and be approved in the defense of their dissertation.
