LEAKING VARIOUS MENSTRUATIONS: MENSTRUAL BLOOD AND CONTEMPORARY AGENCIES

Tipo: Produção Bibliográfica
| Ano: 2024

Resumo

With the rise of industry and the establishment of capitalism as a way of life, the concealment of the differences created by the experience of the menstrual cycle, especially the containment of blood, became imperative. In techno-scientific capitalism, a series of industrial products were created (tampons and collectors, cramp medicine, and contraceptives), which produced multiple worlds and meanings, generated intricate and complex social relations, and located menstrual narratives in territories of political contestation and knowledge (Martin Citation1992; Wons Citation2020).
