O TURISMO COMO MEIO DE JUSTIFICAÇÃO DA REFORMA AGRÁRIA - O CASO DO ACAMPAMENTO MARIELLE VIVE, VALINHOS/SP
Resumo
This article discusses the legitimization strategies employed by families involved in the Marielle Vive camp located in Valinhos/SP. It specifically considers the role of community tourism as a strategy to increase visibility for the justifying arguments underlying the claims of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) in the region. Thus, the study shifts the typical tourism research question from "what justifies tourism?" to "what does tourism allow to justify?". Two events of visitation and experience at the Marielle Vive camp during the 10th University Journey for Agrarian Reform (JURA) and the 61st Congress of the Brazilian Society of Rural Economics, Administration, and Sociology (SOBER) will be explored. The conclusion suggests that the MST in Valinhos/SP has developed an alternative community-based rural tourism in recent years, demonstrating significant potential to engage new supporters and facilitate alliances with other organized civil society organizations.
