Resumo

The tools utilized in the measurement of social progress are just as important as the outcomes they are meant to describe and quantify. Our main goal here is to map available survey data and other data sources in Brazil that may contain the types of information required for the measurement of gendered poverty from the 1990s to the 2020s. To this end, we present a brief discussion on the concept of gendered poverty, followed by the enumeration of variables commonly mobilized in the literature for assessing such phenomenon. Then it will be possible to compare their availability specially in the current main household survey, the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (PNAD, discontinued in 2015) and the Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios Contínua (PNADc, successor of the previous research) for the two decades and the 1991, 2000 and 2010 Brazilian Censuses.
