Pedagogical Structure — Environment and Society
Three objectives must be achieved in the academic training provided by the Doctoral Programme in Environment and Society. First, the means and instruments must be provided to enable specialists from different disciplines to engage in dialogue. Second, a robust theoretical and methodological foundation is supplied that not only allows interdisciplinarity to be exercised but also prepares students for the practical application of their knowledge in the context of environmental issues and their respective implications for conservation and the various dimensions of sustainability. Third, the programme aims to equip students, both theoretically and methodologically, so that they can work on specific problems that address the particular demands of alternative approaches to pursuing sustainability.
In this respect, students are required to take three compulsory modules, which are:
- AS100 Foundations in Environment and Society
- AS101 Thesis Seminars
- AS127 Introduction to Interdisciplinary Research
Students must complete eight credits of elective modules offered by the PPGA&S. These modules are carefully selected and recommended by the students' supervisor, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to tailor their learning experience to their specific interests and career goals.
