Widespread, rapid, and intensifying environmental transformation in three of Earth?s critical climate regions, namely the Arctic, Amazon, South Asia and Himalaya, are alarming and call for radical new approaches in educational policies, priorities, and approaches, particularly in higher education institutions located in these critical climate regions.

Our project considers whether a transformative approach to sustainability can arise in Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining. It asks how we can better understand what futures miners anticipate and wish for, and gives recognition to miners’ voices, agency and knowledge with the hope of developing more democratic ways to re-imagine sustainability.
